Animation was always on the 'to-do' list for DAZ Studio. Their keyframe animation tools have been fairly rudimentary up to this point (the posts in their forums from people pleading for upgrades to the animation system go back a couple of years, at least). This is basically the result of a third party (GoFigure!, which may or may not be composed of former and/or current DAZ employees, but both companies are headquartered in Draper, Utah) stepping up and writing a plug-in to streamline the animation capabilities that are already in Studio. As far as DAZ studio goes its nice and easy to use. Loads of free poses and bvh motion files. Getting models/clothes (content) is the big issue really as almost everything worthwhile is commercial and not exactly cheap. Unless you have other means of getting content which i will not mention here.

Import a bvh motion file. Set view and render. However changing cameras and stuff halfway thru didnt seem easy if possible. I dont know if this has changed with the animate plugin. Quality of characters/clothing will be a lot better. But were talking longer render times.

Probably less camera control. And the fact still remains you need to 'buy' lots of content. Daz offers packs but for most of the worthwhile items etc you would need for example. A base model (aiko 3, 4, stephanie, victoria 3, 4 or 4.2 etc) a dress (or top of some kind) a skirt (or trousers depending if you choose a dress or not) shoes (unless u have them bare foot) tights/stockins/socks (dependng on the outfit your making) hair (if you dont like the very few that come with the base models) and all of them just for 1 model. That doesnt include morphs (to change body proportions etc) overall yes DAZ Studio is free and is a nice program that can animate even without the plugin.

But the content is not free (unless like i said you have other means of obtaining it) -Vetch. I have Daz Studio and so I bought the animation package. YOu can get the straight animation package without the bundle for $29.00. I like it a lot.

It does get a bit pricey though for what you get, but they do have sales and deals but for a program that you can use nicely with Moviestorm for making backdrops, models, props and using chromakey, I think it is very good. Thanks for telling us about this. Okay, so now it is after 3 PM and I have been trying to render a 24 second scene of one puppet dancing in DAZ all day.

We were out all day. What it seems to do is do two cycles of rendering. It does something that takes hours and then you click render again and it it renders the actual movie file. The file I did last night was corrupted so I started over today. But you don't have to stay on the screen while it is rendering, as long as the program is still functioning. That is a drawback to DAZ. I do not know what you would go through as far as setting up scenes, sets and having a lot of characters in a scene at once.
