Hi, >>have never been opened in any other vertical but AutoCAD 2014 In the screenshot above the command-line shows that a Map3D-command was started, so it was Map3D at least you wrote about in the previous post. In the last drawing there are AEC objects included, even if you have not opened that with any vertical product you might have used a template containing AEC objects or it's the minimal amount that is added by AutoCAD 2013/14 itself (there was already a discussion about that in the beginning of the 2013 release).

I tried the same now ( _-EXPORTTOAUTOCAD to format 2010) with your drawing using AutoCAD 2012. Do you again get the messages in LT2010? (please rename the attached file back to.ZIP) - alfred. I have this same issue in my drawings and I think it has to do with me upgrading to 2018 and the rest of my office being on 2017. A little backstory; My office does not use AEC Objects at all.

We will use AECTOACAD when we receive files that have aec objects to get rid of them. The issue is that I have a template drawing that ALL of our files are setup with and we do not have any AEC objects that we use in-house. I was called over to a fellow employee's desk and he showed me that he will draw a polyline in a drawing, copy with a basepoint and then paste it into the same drawing and the warning will come up.

Doesn't make sense to me. He isn't doing anything other than copying and pasting in the same drawing.

Keep in mind that he is copying with a basepoint. So my thought is that since I upgraded my machine to 2018 the problems have started. My office does share a cui file that I manage but again we do not use AEC objects. Any ideas on how to get rid of this issue?

I basically just want the warning to go away. Also, I did change the template to be saved in 2013 format recently as well, but everyone in the office is on 2017 except me. Traditionally we had the files save back to 2010, but I am not sure that has anything to do with it. Nobody uses AEC objects per se. They are a feature of *all* vertical products.

If you're working with AutoCAD Mechanical, even 'as AutoCAD', you're going to be working with AEC objects (rather, those derived from the AEC core and specifically designed for that vertical). 'Objects' aren't limited to drawing entities (e.g. Lines, circles, text) but also include data objects attached to the drawing file, layouts, or other organizational arrangements. These get inherited from things like blocks and XREFs, so if you have a block 'contaminated' with AEC data it will automatically add it to a clean drawing when inserted. I should also point out the use of the -dwgunits command (to set units as meters, feet, etc.) will add AEC data to a drawing. That's how it keeps track of what those unit values are. Ok, so after some investigation I have realized that it has to do with AutoCAD 2017 and 2018 not playing well with one another.

The reason I say this is because I saved a drawing in 2018, but saved it back to 2010, and opened it with 2017. When I opened it with 2017 I was unable to use the 'aectoacad' command. I then reopened the file in 2018 and used the aectoacad command and then opened the new file with 2017.

Everything was fine after that. Also, we have templates files on our server, I saved one of them in 2018, again saved it back to 2010, and then opened it with 2017 and all information like layers and blocks were gone from the file as well as the units settings that we have were gone. But if I reopen it with 2018 everything is in there. Any help would be appreciated. Hi, After reading through this thread, I decided to run a test. I started with a 2013 format file that had no AEC objects or proxy objects in it.

I opened it in AutoCAD 2018 and saved it as both a 2010 format as well as a 2013 format. Then I opened those files in 2017 and everything worked as expected.

This tells me that the only issue is the AEC objects which are updated when a file is brought into AutoCAD 2018. Once they are updated even an exporttoautocad will not always successfully make these revert to the previous format. The only way that I have been able to remedy this is to export to DXF format. When I open a 2010 format file with AEC objects in AutoCAD 2017, I see a message pop up that indicates that if I save the file, these objects will be updated to the current version and be incompatible with earlier version. The same is true when opening 2013 format files in AutoCAD 2018. Can you share some files that when saved to 2010 format from AutoCAD 2018 do not show some of the objects?
